About the Cocopah Indian Housing and Development (CIHAD)
Board of Commissioners
The CIHAD Board of Commissioners consists of five members, each appointed by the Cocopah Tribal Council. The following individuals are currently serving:
• Fern Soto – Chair
• Mary Huck – Vice Chair
• Lynetta Thomas – Secretary
The CIHAD Board of Commissioners acts in a policy-making capacity and, therefore, is not involved in CIHAD’s day-to-day operations and activities.
Our Mission
With respect to the Cocopah Culture, Cocopah Indian Housing and Development shall seek to provide through funding a housing program that ensures a higher standard of living and allows for unique tribal family lifestyle. Lifestyle living includes housing for elders, homeowners, renters, single-member families and multi-family living, emphasizing education, tenant counseling and community involvement.
- In an effort to assist tribal members, CIHAD will assist families in obtaining educational seminars in budgeting, borrowing, homeownership and homemaking.
- In addition, CIHAD will provide affordable housing at a cost that includes continuing maintenance and renovation services.
- In an effort to maximize community services, CIHAD will assist tribal departments in the coordination of activities and events within the community.
- In conjunction with Tribal departments, CIHAD will contribute to the formation of an emergency management system for the protection of individuals within the community, and to support the preservation of traditional, cultural, and natural resources.
