In recent years, CIHAD has been able to fund its home rehabilitation through grants from the following agencies:
HUD’s Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) – 2021,2022.
Using these funds, 50 of the oldest (and most in need) homes on the reservations have received major rehabilitation, including:
General
New roof shingles, new heat/air condition systems with new duct work throughout, new floors (tile and carpet) and baseboards, new exterior and interior doors, security screen doors, upgrade to 200 amp electrical main, new dual pane windows and exterior/interior paint.
Kitchen
New appliances, cabinets, countertops and plumbing.
Bathrooms
New vanities, showers, towel bars, medicine cabinets, exhaust fans, toilets and plumbing.
USDA’s Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) – Fiscal Years 2020,2021.
Using these funds, CIHAD has been able to supplement the ICDBG funds received.
CIHAD plans to continue applying for a variety of federal and state grants as they become available to meet the rehabilitation needs.
HOAF Grant Fiscal Year 2023, along with COVID Assistance for 2021,2022.
CIHAD has been able to fund the Mutual help homes with various needs making several homes habitable and functional for several families in need.
